Extension Programs

A) Inland:- Short-term Training of advanced technology in freshwater Fish farming is impacted to Fisher youth.

  • Place of training - Government fish seed center
  • Duration of training - One month.
  • No. of Training Terms - 2(IMC Breeding season)/(Cyprinus Breeding season).
  • Capacity - 20 Trainee/Term.
  • After successful completion of Training, a certificate is awarded.

Eligibility -

  • The candidate shall be the active fisherman.
  • The candidate shall be within an age group of 18 to 35 years.
  • A candidate must produce School leaving certificate.
  • A candidate shall have passed the 4th class.
  • A candidate shall have passed the swimming test.

B) Marine Training in Marine Fisheries, Navigation and Marine Diesel Engine Maintainanaceand operation:- Maharashtra Government has established the six Fisheries Training Centers at Satpati, Vasai (Thane), Versova,(Mumbai), Alibag (Raigad), Ratnagiri (Ratnagiri), Malvlan (Sindhudurg). These Fisheries Training Centers impart training in the operation of modern fishing gears and methods to augment marine fish production of the state and maintenance of marine diesel engines to the fishery youth.

  • Duration of Training Course - Six months.
  • No. of Training Terms - 2(1st January to 30th June)/( 1st July to 31st December)
  • Capacity - 22 Trainee/term.
  • Training fees charged - Rs.100/month for BPL Trainee.
  • Rs.450/month for APL Trainee.

Eligibility -

  • A candidate shall be an active fisherman.
  • He shall have fishing experience for one year.
  • The candidate shall be within an age group of 18 to 35 years.
  • A candidate must produce School leaving certificate.
  • A candidate shall have passed the 4th class.
  • A candidate shall have passed the swimming test.
  • A candidate shall be sponsored by the Fisheries Co-Operative Society.

C) Training is given on payment of fees:-Nine short-term fisheries training courses are commenced vide Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Department’s G.R. No. Matsya Aa/2002/Pra.Kra. 10/ADF-12, Dated 30-03-2002.
